Stock Number : AML - 1871
Extremely rare art deco ceiling fixture manufactured around 1930 in Germany.

As an example of modernism it features ultra moderne geometric design which were applied using an airbrush technique. The airbrushed pattern show their origins in the cubism art movement.

Airbrushed design applied on ceramic was a fairly short phenomenon that lasted less than 10 years in Germany.

Influenced by the constructivist and supremastist design of the russians, the bauhaus and the art deco movement, geometric pattern appeared around 1927 and had their peak between 1930 and 1933.

As many companies were struggling after the stock exchange in 1929, the use of very strong contrasting colours and design was considered an edging factor to increase sales. Airbrushed designs were already extremely popular in the print area everywhere in Europe but only german and austrian manufacturers used this method on ceramic and porcelain.

As a result of a nationwide refocussing on so called traditional german values after 1933, abstract design slowly disappeared.
Many production lines were shut off and most of the remaining stocks were destroyed.
